This study explores the potential of Molotabu Beach as an ecotourism area rooted in local wisdom, serving as a foundation for sustainable tourism development. By integrating local wisdom, ecotourism can become a significant source of income while conserving biodiversity and preserving cultural heritage. The research employed a survey method with data collected through field observations, in-depth interviews, and focus group discussions (FGDs). Respondents included cultural leaders, community figures, religious leaders, fishermen, Pokdarwis (Tourism Awareness Group) members, and local residents. The sampling techniques used were purposive and snowball sampling to expand the respondent network and gain a comprehensive understanding of local wisdom in sustainable ecotourism management. The findings reveal that the community actively preserves coral reefs and practices traditional fishing methods, contributing to the protection of marine ecosystems. They also identify rare or endangered species and understand habitat protection, crucial for conservation efforts. Integrating the local wisdom of the Gorontalo community in managing Molotabu Beach ecotourism protects the environment while the Pokdarwis upholds cultural practices. A key event is the Asyura Day commemoration, an annual disaster prevention tradition that reflects the community’s commitment to environmental conservation. © 2025, Scibulcom Ltd..
