Abstract

The current study evaluates public knowledge, attitudes, and participation in the conservation management of Lake Limboto, with a focus on demographic differences. Data from 4092 face-to-face interviews using a 28-item questionnaire were analysed with the Rasch model, providing reliable and valid insights. Results revealed significant variations in conservation engagement based on gender, age, and education. Less-educated individuals were more willing to participate, while older respondents (over 50) exhibited lower active involvement. There was also a general perception that conservation is primarily the government’s responsibility, with limited community input. The findings suggest the need for improved public outreach and education to foster active community involvement in conservation. © 2025, Scibulcom Ltd.. All rights reserved.
