Abstract

The cause of the increase in rice prices in Gorontalo is the lack of rice stocks. This results in suboptimal supply chain performance in meeting consumer needs. The study aimed to determine the structure and efficiency of the rice supply chain in Gorontalo. The research was conducted from April to July 2023 in Gorontalo Province. The research method used a survey method. Sampling was done using a multistage sampling method from 3 districts/cities. From each district/city, 2 sub-districts with the highest rice production were selected. Based on data from farmers, a product flow involving various other institutions was identified, namely 13 milling units, 7 large traders, 10 retailers, TTIC, BULOG, and 4 Alfamart stores. The structure of the rice supply chain in Gorontalo was analyzed descriptively and qualitatively. Meanwhile, the technical efficiency of each supply chain actor was analyzed using the DEA (Data Envelopment Analysis) method. The results showed that the supply chain structure of rice commodities in Gorontalo is divided into four supply chain models involving farmers, rice mills, wholesalers, retailers, BULOG, TTIC and Alfamart, where the growers are farmers, BULOG, TTIC and Alfamart. In general, rice supply chain actors in Gorontalo Province have efficient performance, except for farmers and millers located in Tolangohula District, where the inefficient performance metrics at the farmer level are all input factors except cost, while at the rice mill level, the inefficient performance metrics are the cash to cash cycle and cost. © 2024, Panji Sakti University.
